Are group tours worth it? Just started planning a trip to Banff / Jasper for the end of July with my family (4 people total). I saw a group tour online for around $1100 per person, and it includes all ticket fees, transport, breakfast, and hotel for 5 full days of activities. Flight is not included, but the round trip is around $170 per person.

We booked a City Tour and Swiss Alps Tour. The tours were terrible. Everything was rushed, no time to shop or enter churches which were part of the tour. Included was the Lindt Chocolate Factory tour which required a ferry ride. We had to walk about a mile to get to the ferry, then walk another mile through a park to get to the Factory.

No welcome reception, only tour guide, smaller bus for tours crowded, no portable earphones, no dinners included, and lots less helpful info upfront before + during tour. EF is more costly but transport more comfy, app very helpful. Many included dinners. Also easier to book months ahead + pay instalments ...
